Jobs

We want to bring some quality back to the world. Come and help us do it ...

Waremakers aims to become a globally recognised brand and to help inspire a move away from fast consumerism and towards people buying and using better quality products. We have partnered with one of Europe's largest companies in our sector and are growing the business from our offices in Spain.

We are looking for talented, experienced, self-motivated and ambitious people who thrive in international environments.

Are you such a person? And are you equally motivated by the thought of combining a very busy, but also very rewarding, work-week in an ambitious start-up with a life in beautiful, sub-tropical Valencia, Spain?

Please note that salaries in Spain are significantly lower than in, say, Northern Europe or the US, but living expenses are equally low compared to those same countries.

You need to be a citizen of the EU, or hold a EU working permit, to be considered.

Head of Marketing (CMO)

In April 2017 we launched our brand new website, and we now wish to take the marketing of Waremakers  — and using quality products — to the next level. To help us do that, we need the aid of an experienced marketer with a relevant e-commerce background.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Fluent English speaker.
An ability to speak Spanish would be a plus, but is not required.

THE ROLE

As our new Head of Marketing you will lead our marketing strategy working directly with the CEO and co-founder.

Your primary responsibility will be to determine key strategies and tactics with the aim of both building the Waremakers brand and continuously increasing turnover.

We already work, or plan to work, with a number of channels:

  • SMM (organic and paid)
  • SEM
  • Display ads / retargeting
  • Partnerships
  • Newsletters
  • PR
  • Podcast advertising
  • Outdoor

And we wish to experiment with more, but need your expertise and experience to help us do it.

You will be working together with our publicity manager, our marketing assistant and a new CTO and will be able to call upon more resources as needed. This could be in the form of new hires, outsourcing work or establishing new collaborations with agencies.

We like marketing Waremakers in an honest and organic way and not to make 'hard sales'. We believe this is the best way of building a brand for the long term, and that it fits the overarching vision of making people shift consumption habits away from fast consumerism and towards buying lasting quality.

This is why we produce a fair amount of content and engage in a lot of storytelling. At the same time, of course, to build a sustainable business we need to convert interest into actual sales.

YOU

You are an experienced marketer who knows what  works and what doesn't. You have been around the block and can see through the hype and measure the ROI of what you do — and plan and tweak your actions accordingly.

It is important that you have e-commerce experience and allround experience with:

  • Digital marketing in general
  • Performance marketing (digital ads and their ROI)
  • Gaining exposure and traffic from partnerships
  • Brandbuilding through a variety of channels

You need to be comfortable with leading a small team and be the one expected to drive the marketing forward and achieve results. You will be working with the CEO who has significant experience with communications, design and marketing but you will be expected to bring your own knowledge and experience to the table along with managerial qualites.

WE OFFER

You will become part of an international team consisting of 10-12 people and be part of a well-funded start-up with big ambitions.

We offer a competitive starting salary relative to the salary level in Spain. Depending on the results we as a business achieve, there is a high ceiling for what the role can lead to in terms of both work areas and salary.

We offer practical relocation assistance if you are coming from abroad.

WHAT NOW?

Simply send us your CV (in English) along with a cover letter about yourself and examples of relevant work.

DEADLINE

There is no deadline for applying. We will continuously be reviewing applications and conducting interviews until we have found the right person.

STARTING DATE

June 2017, or as soon as possible after this date.

Web UX Lead (CTO)

Come and help us build the best e-commerce site on the web.

In April 2017 we launched our brand new website, but this is only the beginning.

We want to design and build the best shopping and reading experience on the web — and we need the help of a versatile web UX expert with solid tech knowledge.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Fluent English speaker.
An ability to speak Spanish would be a plus, but is not required.

THE ROLE

As our UX lead, you will essentially also be our CTO. We work with a small team of very skilled developers in Ukraine but need a local lead to project manage:

  • The developers in Ukraine (using Trello for project management)
  • Our UX design, tweaks and tests
  • Bug hunting
  • A/B testing

You will also play a key role in determining the tactics for our website, managing our SEO and most other aspects of running and improving our web platform, including sometimes building landing pages, optimizing the site and managing integrations with web tools from Google, Facebook, helpdesk services etc.

You will be working with most of the team and directly with one of the founders that previously handled our web builds.

Our site is built in PHP with the Laravel framework.

YOU

You are a very digitally minded person — but you are not necessarily a developer.

Our developers in Ukraine take care of the actual coding, so your primary responsibility is to project manage and test their work while constantly looking for new ways to improve our platform, frontend as well as backend.

  • You have significant experience with UX design, and preferably also UI design.
  • You know a fair bit of HTML and CSS, possibly also a bit of PHP, but it is not required.
  • Experience from developing UX and UI on e-commerce sites will be a big plus.
  • You know your way around Google Analytics and possibly also KissMetrics.
  • You know how to project manage and communicate to developers in a way they can understand.

You know that lots of small changes can have big effects. How to develop new UX and UI ideas, send them off to the developers, test their work and measure and assess the results. The aim always to optimize both the experience with, and the results of, using our web platform on waremakers.com.

And you truly know how websites work. What they can do and how they do it. What you can plug them into. Why you would do that. Or why you wouldn't.

WE OFFER

You will become part of an international team consisting of 10-12 people and be part of a well-funded start-up with big ambitions.

We offer a competitive salary relative to the salary level in Spain.

We offer practical relocation assistance if you are coming from abroad.

  • Possibly managing external suppliers making more complex infographics etc.
  • Editing & resizing of all product images to ensure they are website-ready

YOU

We are a start-up, so we need driven and super versatile people. You need to be organised and work effectively and efficiently with a conscientious and can-do attitude. You are highly self-motivated and pro-active.

You take a design brief as a starting point — you can follow tight briefs to the letter, but you can also interpret loose briefs with creativity and brand sensitivity.

You feel comfortable managing a large workflow to time and quality requirements. As an e-commerce business, we manage a large quantity of image content. We launch multiple producers on our site each month. Some of our larger producers have 100+ products, with each product having 5+ context and product images which require editing. You have strong experience in the following:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Photo editing: Model & product shots, both in studio and ‘wild’
  • Still image design: Turning tight or loose briefs in to marketing and promotional materials to run across multiple platforms – Facebook, website, Instagram, blogs and more

If you have experience in the following, we would be very happy:

  • Full Adobe Creative Suite
  • Video & Animation software
  • CMS for e-commerce websites
  • Design for social platforms:  Knowledge of Facebook design dimensions and limitations, including text limits, Canvas and more.

It is also important to us that you share our ethos: We truly care about humans making things to the highest standards and we wish to encourage people to buy better quality products. We are convinced that you can only truly excel in your work if you genuinely believe in what you are doing.

WE OFFER

We recently partnered with one of Europe's biggest companies in our sector and are setting out on a mission with all the buzz and energy that this entails. You will become part of an international team consisting of 10-12 people and be part of the project almost from the start.

Initially we can offer a part time position of 16-24 hours per week, but this could evolve into a full-time position.

We offer practical relocation assistance if you are coming from abroad.

WHAT NOW?
